Booking Details:
It was another long weekend and we just felt that we need to do some family bonding considering that my husband and I were too busy with office work and the kids with their school activities. We hardly dined together or spent quality time for several weeks that we all felt alienated from each other. Thus my husband decided to have some get-together to create great memories with our growing kids. It was great that I scored an Agoda reservation for two rooms at The Exchange Regency for 65% discounted rate with free buffet breakfast for four.
Check-in and Stay:
We arrived at the hotel ten minutes earlier than the check-in time. They have attentive guards and hotel attendants who helped us with our luggage. Although there were many guests at that time, we had an express check-in. The front desk staff were also very courteous and instructions were given clear and in order. We had our key card for our first room in less than five minutes. We were informed that the adjacent room that we requested was being cleaned and the key would be delivered to us once available. So we immediately headed to our assigned room at the 20th floor which I requested to have since I wanted a good top view of the surrounding area.
In the first room, there were two single beds, LCD television with cable channel, private in-room safe, telephone, personal refrigerator and complimentary coffee/tea and water. The bathroom has toiletries like soap, shampoo and conditioner. Good thing that we always bring our own brush and toothpaste as it was not included in the provision. But, they provided bathroom slippers which is great as we did not bring our own. The room is also adorned with artworks. The bed and pillows were comfortable and the bed covers and blanket seemed clean. We got the other key for our second room which is just adjacent to the first room. The kids only complained of noise coming from the faucet/shower and also from the air conditioning unit. They also found the towels to be too old as it was obviously dingy white. We just did not bother to get another room as we were informed that there were no more adjacent room available and we were tired from our long commute.
Knowing our kids very demanding tummy, my husband decided to roam the adjacent establishment to look for restaurant as there was only coffee shop at the ground floor of the hotel. It took us to Tycoon Center at Pearl Drive which was 400m distance from the hotel. There were food establishments and convenience store at the center which was the nearest place we found. We bought our drinking water from 7/11 as the complimentary water will not last us until next day. Then we bought snacks from McDonalds and Buddys. We also had to buy an umbrella from 7/11 as it was starting to rain and we had to walk back 400m to the hotel. After snack, my husband and the kids spent some time at the pool. There was also jacuzzi and sauna. They also have fitness center, game room and kids play area on the same floor. When dinner time came, we decided to just order food from Buddys Restaurant and have it delivered in our hotel room. We had late dinner at past 8PM in our room with the kids enjoying our family time together.
The next day, we had an early buffet breakfast with the kids which was included in our accommodation. There were sufficient food choices which we all enjoyed especially my little picky eater. I had fried rice, fish fillet and omelet while the kids enjoyed the pancake and cereals. My husband liked the stir-fried noodles and he also tried the other viands available. There were also ample serving of fruits and juice.
Check Out:
Around 15 minutes before noon, we were all set for checkout. I surrendered the key cards to the front desk staff and he computed all expenses charged to our room. He returned the incidental deposit less the buffet breakfast fees charged to our room. We were given clearance to leave in as little as five minutes. π
