Family Staycation at Hotel Jen Manila

Hotel Name: Winford Hotel and Casino

Booking Details:

I booked this hotel two weeks prior to our intended stay through Agoda.  I just wanted to have some relaxed time with my family after the Lenten break.  As we all know, hotels tend to be packed with visitors during the Holy Week thus I decided to have an after Lent stay. This hotel is just across an SM Mall so everything our family need will just be within easy access.  Good thing that there was a discount promo when I booked thus I got the two double deluxe rooms for just more than PHP 6,000.00 which is a good deal since breakfast for four is already included. πŸ˜„

Check-in and Stay:

We arrived at the hotel twenty minutes earlier than the 2PM checkin time. As we were too tired from our three-hour travel coming from the province, we settled ourselves first in their very comfortable seats at the lobby.

Then my husband approached the front desk and informed the staff about our booking.  We did not generate a printout of our Agoda reservation voucher but instead showed the email confirmation from my mobile (as specified in the voucher).  I also did not call the hotel anymore for any confirmation since I thought that the Agoda confirmation is sufficient enough thinking that it was already properly coordinated with the hotel.  Since the voucher was named after me and it was my husband who presented it to the hotel staff, he was requested to have the Agoda email voucher forwarded to their reservations.  Anyway, they just explained that we should have called the hotel to confirm our booking which was the first time I experienced that whereas in my previous bookings through Agoda, I never really called the hotel and I did not have problem with that.  So they only processed our check-in after they receive the forwarded email.  As their hotel policy, we were also asked for P2,000.00 refundable security fee for each room. We only get our keycard for the first room fifteen minutes past 2PM.  We were told that the other room was still being cleaned and they will just deliver to our room the keycard for the second room. We only had it after another twenty minutes of waiting.  Wasted time for tired souls who just wanted a relaxing stay.  πŸ˜

All my annoyance was dissolved when we finally reached our room at the 20th floor.  At least they have a very nice and clean carpeted room, with two comfy double sized beds covered with crisp clean white linens.

The room has large glass windows overlooking the metro (not so much a nice view though).  As my kids were too excited to plunge at the pool, they headed there in no time while I was left at the room to have a nap. The kids liked swimming at the pool that they stayed there until past 5PM.   😁

There were two complimentary bottled water and coffee/tea.  A fridge was provided in the room where there were available drinks that you can buy.  It could be better if cakes/pastries were available than cans of beers especially if the occupants were family (just a thought).  The bathroom supplies were also sufficient (soap, body wash, shampoo, conditioner, lotion, etc.).  I just noticed that there was no handheld bidet faucet and there was only one hook to hang your clothes in the bathroom which makes it inconvenient.

As the whole family was too tired to stroll around that night, we only had pizza and pasta for dinner that my son bought at Avenetto Pizzeria inside SM Mall.  The next day, we had a sumptuous buffet breakfast at Copa de Manila Restaurant at the ground floor of the hotel.  We were just charged additional for the kids as only three years old below were free (hotel policies differ, for some hotels, below 7-11 y/o were free).  Good thing that they served ample amount of food complete with fruits and drinks. We literally ate to our heart's content. 😊

The kids returned to the pool for some more swimming time and they just enjoyed the remaining hours there.  We prepared for checkout at 11AM.

Check Out:
We informed the front desk that we will be checking out then told them of the dental glass that my daughter broke.  They asked us to wait while they complete the checkout process.  Of course, as standard procedure, they will check the room that we accommodated. After they have computed all the additional fees that we need to pay, they returned the security deposit less all those charges.  The broken dental glass costs us P500.00,  so remember not to break any hotel wares as it will surely be too costly. We were done checkout after fifteen minutes.
