Family Staycation at Hotel Jen Manila

Day 1 Family Adventure - Singapore's Marina Bay Sands and Skypark

Looking back....
Date: November 15, 2015
Place: Geylang East, Marina Square, Suntec City and Marina Bay Sands in Singapore

We had an early morning flight from Manila to Singapore on a Saturday, November 14, 2015.  We had an original flight schedule of Friday night but due to some adjustment by our airline to give way to the APEC Summit in Manila, our flight and everything was reset.

We departed from Manila at around 6:00 AM on November 15 and arrived in Singapore almost 10 AM.  We headed to our temporary residence in Geylang which was about 30 minutes drive from the airport and had to catch up some sleep  before setting out to lunch.
The clean surrounding of Geylang
It was great that our place was very close to hawker establishments that allowed us to taste the local dishes for less. There were many food options that we could try but we noticed that since we were a little late for lunch at around past 2 PM, most of the food stalls were already closed.  Yes they clean up and close after lunch and open again in time for dinner.  We chanced upon the fish and chips in one of the food kiosks and my buddies had the Char Siew Rice, Char kuay Teow and Laksa. After lunch we headed back to our inn but we could not resist the smell of that chocolate pancake that we bought some for snack. Even before the kids finish eating their pancakes, they were already excited where we would be going for dinner. Ahh...kid's tummy was such a wonder hahaha...

My sister asked us where we would like to stroll at night and since we haven't been to Marina Bay Sands which was under construction in 2010 when we first visited, that was the first thing on my mind. A little past 4:00 PM, we headed to MBS.  We took a bus and the MRT but we also did a lot of walking from the Marina Square going to MBS.

We passed through the Suntec City

eyeing to be on top of that skyscraper...looks like a ship on top

We bought a ticket for the Sands Skypark for a general adult admission at SGD 23.00.

The Skypark is the observation deck at Level 57 of the MBS where one can have a 360 degree view of the area.  The Skypark is open from 9:30 AM to 11:00 PM. We arrived at Skypark a little past 6PM and I guess it was a good timing for us to see Singapore skyline at dawn.  We wasted no time taking pictures while the sun was still up and took selfies to our heart's content when the surrounding was already embraced by darkness with those lighted skyscrapers at our background.

There are food kiosks and restaurant/bar at the Skypark so you can have your meals up there while enjoying the view.  Others say that you truly haven't seen Singapore unless you have been on top of the Marina Bay Sands.  It was a one of a kind experience indeed.
