Booking Details:
December 27, 2016: My husband wished for another family bonding at a hotel like what we had last year at Dusit Thani. We decided to have the staycation on the first day of 2017 to mark new experiences for the family on new year. I really liked the idea of having it near Mall of Asia so we can roam around the mall. As the booking is just some days away from our preferred date, there were limited available rooms at hotels nearby MOA.  Hotel 101 is just some blocks away and it is a newly opened hotel so I decided to try this one out.  I checked with Agoda and lucky me that I got a flash deal that gave me discount on my booking.

Check-in and Stay:
Although the whole family was still catching up on sleep because of the prior night new years eve celebration (we retired at 2-3 AM) we managed to wake up early at 7AM to prepare for our hotel stay..not too excited ha ha....I called the hotel to also confirm my reservation as I do not like to be hassled during check-in.  I took this chance to tell the reservation staff to reserve us adjacent or adjoining rooms if available as I have minors with me.  I was only told to inform the front desk during our check-in.

We arrived at the hotel at quarter before 2PM.  I approached the front desk and inform her of our reservation.  I was disappointed that she did not get my details but I was only informed that she will start entertaining check-ins at 2PM since their staff are still cleaning the rooms and checking its availability. The desk officer could have provided better service had she entertained me the moment I approached the front desk even if they will start the check-in process at 2pm.  So we waited until 2PM and fall in line again to have the check-in process.  It was not specified in the confirmation email about the incidental expense and yet we were requested of PHP1,000 per room.  Anyways, I did not dispute about it as I know of hotel policies but it could be convenient if it was stated in the booking confirmation especially for first time travelers who are on tight budget. Just imagine the stress that it could have caused to those who have no extra money for that.

At first we were being offered of non-adjacent rooms but I asked the staff to take another look on other floors as I have minors with me.  She checked again on her computer and finally gave us what I requested.  Whew! After twenty minutes, we finally had our key cards. I was glad to see security personnel and hotel staff were everywhere to assist the guests.

The room has one queen-sized and another single bed with crisp white and clean smelling linens, It has an LCD screen with cable channel connection.  Aside from the wardrobe, the room has a pantry which can be likened to those in condominium unit complete with personal fridge, microwave oven, coffee maker and complimentary drinks. There were available snacks at the pantry but you need to pay for those upon checkout.

The bathroom was clean but has limited space.  It has enclosed shower room but I think it needs fixing as water tend to spill outside the enclosure thus making the floor too wet and slippery.   I liked that the toiletries were complete (bath soap, shampoo, conditioner, lotion, toothbrush/toothpaste, tissue and hair dryer).  Room slippers were also provided.

We generally had a relaxing stay at Hotel 101 as we did not have problems with the amenities provided from the bed, the air conditioning unit, the tv reception and even the wifi connection.  The kids even had a great time at the pool where they spent most of their time.  We also like the location as we were able to stroll at MOA where we had our family dinner.  This hotel provides shuttle service to MOA but we did not avail of it as we also took this time to do some walking exercise.  The buffet breakfast was also sufficiently provided. Since our accommodation only includes free breakfast for four adults, we had to pay extra for my two kids.  Seven years old below were free though.

Checkout:
The checkout time took us almost twenty minutes as they still need to check our rooms and compute those snacks that we consumed. πŸ˜„
